The following is a list of enhancements included in R4+ v8.1.7.
A new NHS Scotland policy that will provide free dental care for patients between18 and 25 years of age (in addition to the currently exempted groups) will go into effect on the 24thAugust 2021. R4+ v8.1.7 makes the following changes to accommodate the new exemption:
“Patient is Under 26” Exemption option becomes available from the 24thof August 2021 onwards.
“Patient is Under 18” and “Patient is Under 18 in FTE” Exemption options are removed from the 24th August 2021 onwards.
Please note the following changes:
The Patient Banner of a patient who becomes exempt due to this change displays “Exempt”, but the patient’s Schemes tab will not be updated until a Course of Treatment (CoT) is Accepted or the Schemes tab is accessed.
If the patient is older than 18, but under 26 and is exempt for a different reason (Universal Credit, Pension Credit, and so on), their Exemption will not change. If circumstances change and their initial Exemption reason is no longer valid, you must manually set the patients Exemption to “Patient is Under 26” instead of "Not Exempt" on the Schemes tab.
If a CoT has been Opened and Accepted for a patient who was Not Exempt prior to the 24th August 2021, but is under 26 on the 24th August 2021, that patient will continue to be charged for procedures on the CoT despite their newly Exempt status (charges were accepted before the new exemption comes into force).
If the CoT was Opened, but Not Accepted for a person under 26 on the24th August 2021, Exempt will appear on the Patient Banner and charges will be set to zero as the claim will inherit the new exemption status.
