Cancelling an Appointment

Using the Cancel Appointment function, you can cancel a scheduled patient appointment and indicate the reason for the cancellation — cancelled by the patient, cancelled by the office, or due to error. The appointment time is then available for use by another patient.

The reasons for cancellation are recorded in these areas.

To cancel a patient appointment:

  1. From the patient chart, select Functions > Schedule Appointment. The Appointment summary view is displayed.

  2. To the right of the appointment you want to delete, click the red X icon. The Cancel Appointment window is displayed.

  1. Select the reason for cancelling the appointment from the following options:

  2. by Patient

  3. by Office

  4. due to error

  1. Deselect Copy appointment to clipboard.

  2. If the Copy to clipboard option is selected, the appointment is placed on the clipboard to be rescheduled. This indicates a changed Appointment, rather than a cancelled appointment.

  1. Click OK. The appointment is deleted.
