Adding a New Patient

If you are scheduling an appointment for a patient who is not in the system, you can add the new patient's basic information from the Scheduler, and then schedule the appointment. The patient's basic information is saved, so that the detailed information, such as insurance, medical history, and so forth, can be entered in the appropriate locations within the practice management software.

To add a new patient from the Scheduler:

  1. Click the New Appointment button from the main toolbar. A blank appointment card is displayed.

  2. Use the Patient Search field to confirm that the patient record does not already exist.

  3. Click Add New Patient. The New Patient Information window is displayed.

  4. Enter the patient's name and date of birth. The name is automatically entered into the Responsible Party field.

  5. If the patient is the responsible party, leave the Create new option selected. If the responsible party for the patient already exists in your database, select Add to existing, and use the search field to select that person.

  6. Be sure to select the appropriate responsible party before saving the new patient record. Changing it later might result in duplicate records.

  1. Enter the patient's contact information.

  2. Click Save. The patient's name and contact information are displayed in the appointment card, and you can save or book the appointment.

Activating a New Patient

When you are ready to activate the new patient:

  1. Click the button on the left to open the options panel for the practice management software.

  2. Select the appointment tile, or open the appointment card, and click Activate New Patient in the panel. The data entry screen for new patient information is opened in the practice management software, populated with the data you added from the Scheduler.

  3. Complete the patient's information and save the record.
