Using PracticeToGo

The PracticeToGo feature transfers practice information in SoftDent to pocket PC devices by integrating with desktop organizer software. PracticeToGo also receives data from these programs through the SD Commands feature.

The PracticeToGo feature has two integration options:

The Palm OS platform
Microsoft Outlook 2000 software or higher

When you sync with PracticeToGo, the following information transfers from SoftDent to either the Palm organizer or Microsoft Outlook:

Appointments
Call-back list
Patient list
Memos
Referring doctor list
Referring doctor patient list
Pharmacy list
Prescription information
Practice financials

It is up to you to determine the parameters for the information that transfers; these parameters are your PracticeToGo user preferences.

You must have security rights to use PracticeToGo, change PracticeToGo system settings, and set syncing preferences.

PracticeToGo:PracticeToGo:The SoftDent feature that enables you to transfer office information to the Palm OS platform or the Microsoft Outlook 2000 software.
Palm-connected organizer:Palm-connected organizer:A hand-held electronic organizer that can hold information from your desktop PC or laptop computer.
Pocket PC:Pocket PC:A hand-held electronic organizer that can hold information from your desktop PC or laptop computer, for use with the PracticeToGo-Outlook platform.
Palm Desktop software:Palm Desktop software:A Palm software program that runs on the PC. The software enables you to work with your Palm organizer applications and to back up your Palm organizer data on your PC. It also contains the HotSync Manager, which enables you to synchronize data between your PC and your Palm organizer.
Microsoft Outlook 2000:Microsoft Outlook 2000:The desktop organizer software that runs on the PC. If enabled, Microsoft Outlook synchronizes data with SoftDent. Also, per your setup, Microsoft Outlook synchronizes data between your PC and your pocket PC device.
SoftDent-Palm Application:SoftDent-Palm Application:The SoftDent software that runs on the Palm-connected organizer. This software must be installed on the Palm organizer before transfer of data can occur.
SoftDent conduit:SoftDent conduit:A small software program that runs on the PC to enable transfer of data from SoftDent to the Palm-connected organizer. This program is installed automatically when you perform the integration procedure with the Palm OS platform.
PC SoftDent:PC SoftDent:The SoftDent software that runs on the PC, as distinguished from the SoftDent-Palm application that runs on the Palm-connected organizer.
Synchronization:Synchronization:Another term for the transfer of data between the SoftDent software and the Palm-connected organizer or the Microsoft Outlook software. A synchronization or HotSync operation occurs when you press the HotSync button on the cradle.
SD commands:SD commands:PracticeToGo application Date Book, Address List, and Memo Pad commands that, when inserted in a selected Palm organizer or MicroSoft Outlook entry, allow for specific data to be transferred to the PC SoftDent software during synchronization.
HotSync® Manager:HotSync® Manager:A feature installed on the PC by the Palm Desktop software to manage the operation of the HotSync cradle. The HotSync Manager detects properly installed conduits, such as the SoftDent conduit, to enable transfer of data between SoftDent and the Palm-connected organizer. This feature is used only when PracticeToGo is enabled for use with the Palm OS platform.
HotSync cradle:HotSync cradle:A device that is connected to your desktop PC or laptop computer. The Palm-connected organizer is placed in the cradle to perform a synchronization. The HotSync cradle is used for syncing PracticeToGo data with the Palm OS platform or pocket PC device.
Stylus:Stylus:A pen-like input device that is used to select onscreen items and move between applications on the Palm-connected organizer or the pocket PC device.
