PracticeToGo System Settings

There are several options that affect the use of the PracticeToGo feature on this computer. You must have Change PracticeToGo System Settings security rights to access these settings, and it is recommended that these rights be limited to the system administrator (user ID 1).

To make changes to PracticeToGo system settings:

  1. Select System > PracticeToGo > System Settings. The PracticeToGo System Settings window is displayed.

  2. Select from the following options:

  3. PracticeToGo audit trail enabled:PracticeToGo audit trail enabled:

    Select this option to have the PC SoftDent software create an audit trail showing all users who logged on and what data was transferred.

  4. Only log errors or access violations:Only log errors or access violations:

    Select this option to have the audit trail record only login errors and access violations.

  5. Make users login every sync with SoftDent:Make users login every sync with SoftDent:

    Select this option to force the user to log in when he or she presses the HotSync button. Otherwise, after the initial synchronization, a synchronization occurs automatically each time the HotSync button is pressed.

  6. Enable new memo notification on the network:Enable new memo notification on the network:

    Select this option to have memo notification messages display in PC SoftDent software after PracticeToGo memos are transferred from the Palm organizer or the Microsoft Outlook software. For more information about SoftDent Commands, see Sending Data Back to the SoftDent Software.

  7. Enable new memo notification on this machine:Enable new memo notification on this machine:

    Select this option to have memo notification messages display on this specific PC after PracticeToGo memos are transferred from the Palm organizer or the Microsoft Outlook software. For more information about SoftDent Commands, see Sending Data Back to the SoftDent Software.

  8. Sync with Outlook when entering the program on this machine:Sync with Outlook when entering the program on this machine:

    Select this option to automatically activate syncing between PracticeToGo and the Microsoft Outlook software upon SoftDent software startup.

    • This option is only available when using the Microsoft Outlook software setup.

  9. Sync with Outlook when exiting the program on this machine:Sync with Outlook when exiting the program on this machine:

    Select this option to automatically activate syncing between PracticeToGo and the Microsoft Outlook software upon exiting SoftDent software.

    • This option is only available when using the Microsoft Outlook software setup.

  10. Socket Notification Port:Socket Notification Port:

    If you have more than one data set in your SoftDent software installation (for example, two doctors in an office maintaining separate records), the port numbers can be set differently so that memo notifications from a sychronized Palm organizer working off one data set will not be displayed on computers working off the other data set. The port numbers can be set arbitrarily in the range of 10000 — 65534. The default is 13005.

  11. Time out for loading SoftDent:Time out for loading SoftDent:

    Enter a time limit in this field. This ensures that if the SoftDent conduit is not recognized by the HotSync Manager, or the connection fails for any other reason, the HotSync Manager will cease trying to connect with the PC SoftDent software after the time limit you set is reached.

    • This option is available only when using the Palm OS platform setup.

  1. Click OK.
