Setting Up Prescription Drugs

If you will print prescriptions from the PracticeWorks software, add the drugs that you will prescribe.

Note:  If you plan to use electronic prescriptions, you do not need to enter prescription drugs to this list.

To set up prescription drugs:

1. Select Lists > Prescription Drugs.  The Prescription Drug List is displayed.

2. Click Add. The Prescription Drug window is displayed.

3. Enter information in the following fields to create the prescription template:

• NameName  Enter the name you will see when selecting a prescription template from your list.  This name will not show on the printed prescription.

• RxRx  Enter the name of the drug to prescribe. This is the name that will show on the printed prescription.

• DosageDosage  Enter the appropriate dosage.

• DispenseDispense  Enter the number of tablets/capsules or liquid measurement.

• DirectionsDirections  Enter the instructions for how the patient should take the drug.

• RefillsRefills  Enter the appropriate number of refills.

• Additional InstructionsAdditional Instructions  Enter any additional instructions that you want the patient to have when taking this drug.

4. Click OK.
