Using the Document/Image Window

The Document/Image window for a patient enables you to manage the patient's images, scan new images, and attach images or documents from the same location.

These items are stored and accessed on the Attachments feature tabs on the EMR and Workspace features of the Patient window.

You can scan an item and save it as an image file or as a PDF document, or you can select an existing file to attach as a document or image to the patient record.

You can launch the scanner functionality from these locations:

Scanning Images

To scan images:

  1. Click . The Document/Image for Patient window is displayed.

  2. Click Scan. The default scanner is activated.

  3. Use the drop-down list to select a Category for the image. The Item Type, clinical or non-clinical, is displayed based on the selected image category. For more information, see Working with Image Categories.

  4. Enter a date and description for the image.

  5. Select the Save Image as PDF option to save it in that format.

  6. Click Save > New to save the current image or document and reset the window, or click Save > Done to close the window.

Attaching Files

To attach files:

  1. Click . The Document/Image for Patient window is displayed.

  2. Click Select File. The Select File to Attach window is displayed.

  3. Depending on your location in the software, the Select File to Attach window might be displayed first.

  1. Select the file and click Open. The path for the attached file is displayed, and a preview is displayed depending on the file type.

  2. Use the drop-down list to select a Category for the file.

  3. Enter a date and description for the file.

  4. Select the Save Image as PDF option to save an image in that format.

  5. Click Save > New to save the current image or document and reset the window, or click Save > Done to close the window.
