Attachment categories enable you to better sort and manage the different types of documents you attach to a patient's record.
The Attachment Categories window is similar to the other pick list windows in PracticeWorks. Access the list by selecting Lists > Attachment Categories. When you attach a file to the patient's record, you are prompted to select a category for an attachment in the Attachment Definition window. You can use the default system categories, or create additional categories to meet the needs of your practice.
There are six system categories with a class (Financial, Clinical, or Demographic) assigned:
By default, items in the Clinical class categories require review. The system categories cannot be edited, but you can create and edit your own categories as needed.
To create a user-defined category:
Select Lists > Attachment Categories. The Attachment Categories window is displayed.
Click Add. A new Attachment Category window is displayed.
Enter a name for the category, and select a class from the list.
If you want items in this category to be reviewed, select Requires Review.
Click OK. The category is added to the list, and can be selected for new or existing attachments.
