Using the Referrals Button

The Patient Referrals window contains information about the patient’s doctor, the referring doctor, doctors to whom the patient has been referred, and patients that have been referred to your practice by this patient.

To enter referral information for a patient:

1. From the patient chart, click the Patient Information icon to display the Patient Information window.

2. Click Referrals. The Patient Referrals window displays the following information:

   • DoctorsThis pane displays the first name, last name, address, phone number, and specialty of each doctor who is associated with the patient.

   • Referred byThis pane displays the name of the person who referred the patient, relationship to the patient, and date of referral.

   • Referred toThis pane displays the names, addresses, phone numbers and specialties of doctors to whom the patient has been referred, as well as the date of referral.

   • Patients referred byThis pane displays the names of other patients referred to the practice by the selected person.

3. Click Add New Referral under the type of referral you want to work with. Depending on the type of referral you select, a lookup window is displayed, enabling you to select the referral source from the list. If the referral is not on the list, you can add the referral. 4. Click OK to close the Patient Referrals window and save your changes.
