Enabling Strong Password Protection

Strong password protection is disabled by default. When strong password protection is enabled, employees are prompted at login to create a strong password using the criteria specified on the Change Password window. PracticeWorks does not allow the employee to access the software until the strong password is created. Clicking Cancel causes the software to close.

To enable strong passwords:

  1. From the File menu, select Security > Security options. The Office Wide Security Options window is displayed.

  2. Select Enable strong password protection.

  3. Click OK.

Each user’s new strong password is valid for 90 days. Fourteen days before the password expires, PracticeWorks begins prompting you to change it. Users can change their own passwords by selecting Change password from the Activities menu.
