Scheduling Appointments

PracticeWorks provides different methods for scheduling appointments because circumstances vary based on patient needs and producer availability.

You can go to a specific date in the Appointment Book to find an appropriate time and appointment type. If the patient requests a specific producer, you can use the producer as a starting point. You might also use the producer as a starting point if you are interested in fulfilling specific scheduling goals. See Entering the Employee's Scheduling Goals for more information.

It is recommended that you schedule appointments using the Phone Inquiry feature on the Toolbar or Activities menu. This way, block booking conflicts appear while you are speaking with the patient, and you can discuss alternative times.

See the Related Topics (below) for more information on different scheduling methods.

Rescheduling and Canceling

You can drag and drop an appointment to reschedule it, or right-click the appointment and select Reschedule/Cancel/Failed. The Reschedule/Cancel window is displayed. Select the appropriate options and click OK.

To adjust the length of an appointment from the Appointment Book,  click on the first or last time slot of the appointment and drag it to extend or shorten the designated time block.
