Images are stored in a single database that is shared by PracticeWorks and the imaging applications. After an image is modified, it is viewed in its updated form in any application that uses it. When an image cannot be located from the last known location, the thumbnail viewer displays a placeholder to indicate that the image is not available.
Images of all types can be associated with a patient in the charting module, and you can also associate them with a particular tooth or area of the mouth.
Some types of images, such as RVG and panoramic image types, are auto-associated.
An image can be any of the following:
An image from a video source captured on the Capture tab.
An intraoral radiographic image imported from one of several systems with which PracticeWorks integrates.
An image that was imported from another location.
An image of a document, acquired with a TWAIN device (typically a scanner or digital still camera) by using an external application on the Capture tab or with the Automation Expert.
The Image Viewer enables you to preview and access all the images associated with a patient. It is displayed on the Hard tissue, Soft tissue, Capture, and Layout tabs of the charting module. You can also access the viewer from the patient’s Clipboard or by right-clicking the patient’s appointment in the Appointment book.
