Creating an NEA Attachment

You can attach items when creating a claim or predetermination, after a claim has been created, or when prompted during patient checkout.

Attaching Items to an Existing Claim

To attach images to a claim:

  1. From the Lists menu, select NEA > Attachments. The Electronic Attachments window is displayed.

  2. Click Add. The Select an Insurance Claim window is displayed.

  3. Select the claim to which you want to add an attachment, and click OK. The Electronic Attachment window for the selected claim is displayed.

  4. In the Images section, click Add. The Patient History window is displayed, listing the images that are associated with the patient.

  5. Select the image you want to attach. The Type field should automatically display the image type. If it does not, you can use the drop-down list to select the image type.

  6. If the image is an x-ray, use the drop-down list in the Orientation field to select the orientation of the image.

  7. Click OK. The attachment is added to the Electronic Attachments window.

  8. Repeat steps 4-7 to add more images if needed.

  9. In the Narrative field, type a description of the attachments and any additional comments.

  10. Click Save.

Attaching Items During Checkout

When you are checking out a patent for whom a procedure was performed that requires an NEA attachment, the Attach Images? prompt is displayed asking if you want to attach images at this time.

To attach the images during checkout:

  1. Click Yes. The Electronic Attachment window is displayed.

  2. In the Images section, click Add. The Patient History window is displayed, listing the images that are associated with the patient.

  3. Select the image you want to attach. If the Type field does not automatically display the image type, you can use the drop-down list to select it.

  4. If the image is an x-ray, use the drop-down list in the Orientation field to select the orientation of the image.

  5. Click OK. The attachment is added to the Electronic Attachment window.

  6. Repeat steps 2-4 to add more images if needed.

  7. In the Narrative field, type a description of the attachments and any additional comments.

  8. Click Save. The Insurance Submittal Information window is displayed.

  9. Under Electronic Submission Options, use the drop-down list to select the appropriate Supporting Paperwork, such as Radiology films or Periodontal charts.

  10. Under Mode for sending paperwork, select As NEA Attachment, and click OK.

Print and Submit Options

An Add an Electronic Attachment option has been added to the Print and Submit Options window. When selected, clicking OK opens the Attachment window. If the option is not selected, clicking OK continues the work flow sequence and the attachment status is set to Required.
