Performing Insurance Functions > Using the OrthoTrac Electronic Claim Service
Practices within the United States that use the OrthoTrac electronic claim service can transmit pre-authorizations electronically that were previously submitted on paper.
Your operating system must reflect the United States as the selected country in its configuration. For more information on supported operating systems, check your system requirements.
To transmit a paper pre-authorization electronically:
Select Functions > Patient Chart > Claims from the menu bar. The OrthoTrac Patient Lookup window is displayed.
Select a patient who has an existing pre-authorization that was submitted on paper. The Claims window is displayed.
The responsible party for the patient must use an insurance carrier that is configured to accept electronic transmissions.
Select the existing pre-authorization and click Copy. The Copy New Claim window is displayed.
Click OK. The claim is copied and the Set This New Claim as Electronic option is selected.
If a carrier does not permit electronic preauthorizations, this option is disabled.
Click Close.
