Performing Insurance Functions > Using the OrthoTrac Electronic Claim Service
Clicking Edit/View Claims on the Electronic Claims Maintenance window enables you to review claims before transmitting to the clearinghouse. You can correct any errors or remove any claims from this window prior to transmitting. After the batch has been transmitted, claims cannot be changed.
To view the claims and correct errors:
From the Electronic Claims Maintenance window, click Edit/View Claims. The Edit/View Electronic Claims Maintenance window is displayed.
Claims are displayed in this window according to the claim type selected in the Options section on the main Electronic Claims Maintenance window.
To review previously transmitted batches, select the date you want to view in the Created field. Each item you select affects the options, totals, and display list.
Click on a column heading to sort claims by that criterion.
A claim containing an error is displayed
with an Error icon in the Status column, and a
description of the error follows the patient name.
Double-click anywhere on the row to open the claim form in the edit mode. Make changes as necessary and click OK to update the claim. You can also right-click on a row to remove/restore or edit/view the claim form.
Several function buttonsfunction buttons at the bottom of the window enable you to view and edit electronic claims with errors.

Retrieve — Retrieves the
Transaction Report. Your modem must be on. This button is only
active if claims have been transmitted.
Note: You must wait 24 hours after transmitting to retrieve
your report.

you to remove or restore a claim from the batch. Claims that are
removed remain in the batch but are designated as deleted and
are not transmitted. To remove a claim, select the claim by clicking
anywhere in the row, then click Remove.
To restore a claim that has been removed, select the claim by
clicking anywhere on the row, then click Restore.
The Remove button is unavailable if the claim has been transmitted
or the selected claim has been removed. The Restore button is
unavailable if the claim has been transmitted or the claim is
not removed.
Print — Prints the Transmission Report or a Transaction Report, whichever is available. A Transmission Report prints a list of claims in the batch that have not been removed. A Transaction Report, which is generated by the clearinghouse for transmitted claims, lists claims that were accepted and any claims in the batch that were rejected, and if so, for what reason. The Transaction Report is unavailable if No Report is displayed in the Transaction Report field.
