You are working with a patient who is actively trying to bring his account current, so you are willing to reverse the late charge.
If an account is receiving a late charge and you do not want late charges applied, change the late charge field to zero. In the Charges and Payments window, select the Overview tab. In the Late Charge field, select the charge amount, type 0, and press Enter.
To reverse a late charge:
Select the Late Charge Adjustment option button in the Financial Functions — Adjustments window. The charges available for adjustment are displayed in the center of the Financial Functions — Adjustments window.
Select the late charge you want to adjust. A default comment is displayed in the Comment section, and the cursor moves to the end of this comment automatically. Add your own comment at the end, or select and replace the comment.
Click Posted in Error. The software displays a window showing the account that is affected by the adjustment.
Click OK to post the adjustment and update the accounts indicated in the window.
When a late charge is reversed, it is grayed out on the Financial Functions window, as well as in the ledger.
If you click Cancel, the software does not post the adjustment and returns you to the Late Charge Adjustment section.
If a late charge is adjusted before a statement is generated for the account, neither the late charge nor the adjustment is displayed in the ledger section of the statement.
