Configuring OrthoTrac > Setting Up the OrthoTrac Charting Module
To access charting options:
Select Functions > Maintenance/Set-up > Charting Maintenance from the menu bar.
The selections in the Charting Options section enable you to display additional information about the patient in the Treatment Notes/Comments column, activate the Progress Review prompt, and use keyboard entry of procedure codes.
Select from the following options:
Display Procedure Descriptions in Comment SectionDisplay Procedure Descriptions in Comment Section
Select this option to display a description of the procedures performed.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14. As of version 14, this information is always displayed.
Display Cancellation Appointment HistoryDisplay Cancellation Appointment History
Select this option to display the staff member, the comment, and the date recorded when the patient cancelled appointments.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14. As of version 14, this information is displayed in patient tracking or scheduling history.
Display Change Appointment HistoryDisplay Change Appointment History
Select this option to display the comment and date recorded when the patient changed appointments.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14. As of version 14, this information is displayed in patient tracking or scheduling history.
Display Walk In HistoryDisplay Walk In History
Select this option to display the times the patient was seen but not scheduled for an appointment.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14. As of version 14, this information is displayed in patient tracking or scheduling history.
Display No Show HistoryDisplay No Show History
Select this option to display the times the patient did not show up for an appointment.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14. As of version 14, this information is displayed in patient tracking or scheduling history.
Sort Futures in Descending Date OrderSort Futures in Descending Date Order
Select this option to sort the Futures messages in descending date order. Leave this box unchecked to sort Futures by ascending date order.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14.
Prompt when Progress Review is overduePrompt when Progress Review is overdue
If your office uses a Progress Review date, select this field. When you open a patient’s treatment card, a prompt is displayed when the patient is due for a progress review. The prompt is triggered if the patient’s last progress review was more than six months ago.
If the Review field in the Patient Information window is blank, the software does not prompt you.
Allow Keyboard Entry of Procedure CodesAllow Keyboard Entry of Procedure Codes
Select this field if you do not have duplicate procedure code numbers and you do not typically attach procedure codes to your scheduled appointments.
If you select this option, you can type the procedure code numbers directly in the PROCEDURES column when entering today’s treatment. The Procedure Codes window is also available when using keyboard entry.
Do not select this field if you have duplicate procedure code numbers or you typically attach procedure codes to your scheduled appointments.
By not selecting this option, the Procedure Codes window is automatically displayed so that you can select today’s treatment procedures.

Show Latest Data Combo Values in Events WindowShow Latest Data Combo Values in Events Window
Select this option to display the latest values entered in the combo boxes on the Tooth Chart tab at the top of the Events window.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14. As of version 14, this information is displayed in the Mechanics area of the Tx Card.
Display Patient Education HistoryDisplay Patient Education History
Select this option to display a history of demonstrations when using one of the supported patient education integration programs, such as the MediVision Communicator software.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14. As of version 14, this information is displayed in patient tracking.
Display Call HistoryDisplay Call History
Select this option to display a list of attempts to reach the patient.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14. As of version 14, this information is displayed in patient tracking.
Display Recall HistoryDisplay Recall History
Select this option to display a history of recall cards and labels that have been sent to a patient in the Treatment Card view.
This option only applies to versions prior to version 14. As of version 14, this information is displayed in patient tracking or scheduling history.
Auto Load Image on Detached TabAuto Load Image on Detached Tab
Select this option to automatically display images on a detached tab of a patient's chart. With this option selected, you no longer need to click a button to load images.
Use Original Tx CardUse Original Tx Card
Select this option to display the classic view of the Tx Card. For more information, see Changing the Treatment Card View.
Selecting this option will disable access to certain Tx Card features included in version 14.0 and higher. To restore access, return to the Charting Maintenance window and deselect this option.
Hide Promises by defaultHide Promises by default
Select this option to hide promises on the Tx Card in version 14.0. Deselect this option to display promises in the Tx Card view.
Hide Notes Preview on Tx CardHide Notes Preview on Tx Card
Select this option to hide the Notes preview on the Tx Card in version 14.0. Deselect this option to display the Notes preview in the Tx Card view.
Hide Medical Alerts by defaultHide Medical Alerts by default
Select this option to hide medical alerts in the banner on the Tx Card tab in version 14.0. Deselect this option to display medical alerts in the Tx Card view.
Show full Tx historyShow full Tx history
Select this option to display the full treatment history on the Tx Card tab.
