Changes include:

CDT-2020 Codes

The latest edition of the Current Dental Terminology (CDT-2020) codes is included with this version of SoftDent.

When the CDT-2020 codes are installed:

If you have not already downloaded the CDT-2020 codes, when you open the software for the first time, a CDT 2020 End User License Agreement window is displayed. Read the license agreement carefully. If you agree to the terms, click Accept to load the new codes.

See Using CDT Codes and Viewing ADA Code Descriptions for more information.

Security Updates

To protect your patients' data and privacy, several security changes have been made in this version of the software.

Password Required at Login

If an employee did not previously use a password, he or she is now required to enter a user name and an 8- to 15-character password when logging in. A prompt asking for this information is displayed when the employee attempts to log in to version 19.0 for the first time.

The prompt is also displayed if a user has a password that is less than 8 characters or if the password contains special characters.

See Changing User Passwords and Changing Logins for more information.

Patient Information Audit Trail

A new audit trail -- Patient Information Audit Trail -- has been added to the System menu (System > View Audit Trails > Patient Information Audit Trail). When an employee changes patient demographic data (changes to clinical data are not included), the audit trail records the date, time, user name, and a description of the change.

See Viewing Audit Trails for more information.

Patient Information Audit Trail Reports

Two Patient Information Audit Trail reports -- Patient Information Audit Trail By Date and Patient Information Audit Trail By User -- have been added to the Reports menu (Reports > Audit Trail > Patient Information Audit Trail). The reports enable you to view and print lists of changes to patient demographic data (excluding changes to clinical data) by date or by user.

See Running Patient Information Audit Trail Reports for more information.

Patient Information Audit Trail Security Rights

Two security rights -- View/Print Patient Information Audit Trail and Delete Patient Information Audit Trail -- have been added to the list of Miscellaneous security rights. Users with these rights can view or print the Patient Information Audit Trail or delete the Patient Information Audit Trail.

See Tasks with Limited Access or Miscellaneous Tasks for more information.

Improved Error Handling

Error messages now provide more information as to what the cause of the problem is and give details on how to resolve the issue. This enables you to fix the problem yourself, in some cases, rather than contacting Support.
