You can adjust a new transaction.
To adjust a transaction:
In the patient's Ledger, click a Payment Manager (ePayment) transaction. The Payment Details window is displayed.

Click Adjust this Payment. The Adjust this Payment window is displayed.

Note: You can post a partial refund for ePayment credit card transactions, or the entire amount can be refunded.
Select Issue Refund or Update Entry.
-- If issuing a full or partial refund, select Issue Refund, and then proceed to the next step in this procedure.
-- If you simply need to update information such as the payment subtype, Reference details, or Transaction Comments, select Update Entry. Make the necessary changes, and then click Adjust Payment.

Note: The Correct Information option is not available for ePayment transactions.
In the Use Card Device field, select a device.
In the Refund Amount field, enter an amount to refund.
Note:
-- The refund amount can be up to the full amount of the payment, or up to the amount that is still available to refund, based on any existing refunds tied to the original ePayment transaction.
-- You cannot post a partial refund until the payment transaction has been settled (approximately 24 hours). Prior to the transaction being settled, you can only refund the original full payment amount and the payment is voided. If the funds have settled when you refund the full amount, then it is treated as a full refund.
In the Refund Comments field, a comment is automatically added, but you can edit the comment or add additional information.
Click Adjust Payment. A message informs you that the adjustment was posted.
When issuing a refund, the payment line item in the Patient Ledger is amended with REFUNDED: in the beginning of the description, and a separate line item is added for the Refund.
Note:
-- When refunding card-based payments, the refund is automatically issued to the credit card. When refunding ACH-based payments, the refund is not automatically issued and you need to return the funds in another method, such as issuing a check.
-- You cannot issue partial refunds to insurance-based payment types.
-- To view voided ePay transactions and adjusted non-ePay transactions, select Show Audit View on the left side panel of the Ledger for window.
To adjust a refund for a card-based ePayment:
From the Patient Ledger, click on the Refund line item to expand it.
Click Adjust This Refund. The Adjust This Refund window is displayed.
Note: You can only access the Update Entry section; the Remove Entry and Correct Information options are disabled.
Adjust the Reference or Transaction Comments fields as needed.
Click Adjust Refund.
To adjust a refund for an ACH-based ePayment:
From the Patient Ledger, click on the Refund line item to expand it.
Click Adjust This Refund. The Adjust This Refund window is displayed.
Select Remove Entry to completely reverse the refund, Update Entry to adjust the Reference or Transaction Comments fields, or Correct Entry to increase or decrease the refunded amount.
Click Adjust Refund.
