Naming Chairs

You can specify up to 300 different chairs in your Appointment Book. Assign one column for each dental chair in your office, or one or more columns for each provider. You can also have one for a consultation room, if you schedule appointments for that room. Since most offices use this approach, the term chair is used to specify a column in the Appointment Book.

You might want to set up an additional column called Overflow, into which you can squeeze extra appointments if necessary. The names you assign to chairs should be descriptive, such as the name of a producer or type of procedure.

To assign chair names in your Appointment Book:

  1. Make sure that no computer in your office is running PracticeWorks.

  2. From the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > CS PracticeWorks > Configuration of CS PracticeWorks.

  3. From the Setup menu, select Appointment book > Chair names. The Appointment Chairs window is displayed.

For Time block length, use the drop-down list to select the number of minutes to use as one block of time in your schedule. You can choose 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes, but you must use the same unit of time for all chairs in your system. The default is 10 minutes.

  1. To rename a chair, select the chair and click Edit.

  2. Type the new name for the chair, and click OK.

  3. Continue to select and rename chairs as necessary. When you have finished, click Close.

  4. To exit the configuration utility, select Exit from the File menu.
