Customizing Features for Your Practice > Creating a Field Export
After Creating a Field Export Document and Creating a Field Export AutoLink, you can export your data.
To export data using the AutoLink listed above:
Click Lists > People. The Person Pick List is displayed.
Click Actions. The Actions to Take dialog box is displayed.
Select All Displayed Records and then click OK. The Actions to take window is displayed.
Highlight the Document: Field Export for Lives With (Print later) selection. Once an X appears in the box to the left of the selection, click OK. A clock is displayed to indicate that the software is generating the requested data.
After the clock disappears, click Cancel to exit the Person Pick List window.
Click File > Print >Document queue. The Document Queue window is displayed.
Scroll through the window as needed to locate your export.
Select one of the listings titled Field Export for Lives With in the Document Name column.
If it is not already selected, click the option All documents named Field Export for Lives With near the lower-left corner of the Document Queue window.
Click Print or export selection. The Print All Documents dialog box is displayed.
Click Yes. The Microsoft Windows Save as window is displayed.
From the Save in field, select the folder on your hard drive in which you want to save your exported data.
In the File name field, type a name for the export file.
Click Save. The Exporting Data dialog box is displayed.
Once the export is complete, the Document Queue window is displayed. Click Close to exit this window and return to the main PracticeWorks window.
Locate the text file you created. It can be saved to removable media (such as a floppy disk or CD-R), e-mailed to the appropriate party, or imported for use by any program capable of reading a comma-delimited, quote-enclosed ASCII file. Consult the program manufacturer’s manual for information on whether your software supports this function.
