Using Auto-Post Codes

You can set up a procedure code to automatically post as many as 10 other procedure codes. Any fees associated with the procedure codes are brought together at the time of posting and can be changed. The procedures can be easily removed at the time of posting if not performed. Auto-post codes enable you to quickly post groups of procedures and generate insurance claims.

The following example uses a procedure code called Records - Diagnostic and is used to illustrate how the Auto Post Code function might be used.

In this example, Records - Diagnostic is the only procedure code you want listed on your ledger and in Patient Tracking, with a total fee of $150. However, most insurance companies require an itemized list of procedures performed: cephalometric x-rays, panographic x-rays, study models, and so on.

For this example, the Records - Diagnostic procedure code is set up with a charge amount of $150, with no Insurance Desc. or Insurance Amount. Note that Patient Tracking is selected, while Create Insurance Claim is not selected.

To link the procedures triggered by the Records - Diagnostic procedure code:

  1. Select Functions > Maintenance/Set-up > Procedure Code Maintenance from the menu bar.

  2. Double-click <Add Procedure> in the Auto Post section of the window. The Procedure Code Maintenance window is displayed.

  3. In the Available Procedures section, double-click on the procedures you want to auto post. This moves them into the Selected Procedures section. Up to 10 procedures can be selected to be automatically posted to a procedure. Click OK.

OR

Select the procedure code you want to auto post and click the Single-arrow button to move the procedure code into the Selected Procedures section. Repeat for each additional procedure code. Up to 10 procedures can be selected to be automatically posted by a procedure. Click OK.

  1. Using the Procedure Code Maintenance List window, edit each of the procedures you have set to auto post.

For each procedure you want to automatically post, do the following:
