The following new enhancements are available in the WinOMS software, version 10.0 and 10.0.1:
Beginning with version 10.0, the WinOMS Installation/Upgrade disk, previously shipped as a DVD, is an executable file you can download and extract the necessary files directly onto your computer.
The Installation download also includes the Microsoft SQL Server installation files. Customers are required to provide their Customer ID Number and Postal Code in order to access the specific product and version available to their practice.
To access the latest available version of the software, go to https://softwaredownload.csdental.com.
The Scheduler interface has been updated to provide a more modern look with more visual details.
In addition to name, address, and so forth, a new Scheduler Search field enables you to search for a patient by date of birth (DOB), Social Security Number (SSN), and phone number. At least three characters must be entered. You can also use a comma to specify a name, (i.e., "jones, 1234").
Scalable fonts you can set by workstation for easier viewing on wide-screen monitors.
(Utilities > My Computer Settings > Layout Settings > Scheduler Font Size)
Increased control over how the Scheduler displays when moving from day to day. An option has been added to open the scheduler to beginning time instead of current time. (Tables > Practice Preferences > Defaults > Scheduler)
Appointment check-in shading, previously black, is now blue for easier viewing. The original appointment cell color (based on appointment type) is maintained on the side of the appointment, and the color associated with the appointment type is consistent throughout the check-in state changes.
Shades of the appointment's color grow deeper as the appointment path progresses.
Appointment Status can be changed from the Scheduler, by right-clicking the appointment.
Time bar moves across the Scheduler window to indicate the current time.
The date picker (calendar) has been updated to display a list of months when the month is clicked. The Today option has changed from a red circle to a blue rectangle.
Export Functionality: (Reports > Financial)
Any financial report can now be exported to Microsoft Excel, based on selected criteria, enabling more flexibility and access to the data.
In addition, you can export the following reports:
Credit Balance Report
Service Office Detail Report
Service Office Summary Report
Unbilled Insurance Report
Unapplied Payments Report
Claims Submission Report
Open Treatment Plan Report
Patient Statistics by Zip Code Report
Referral Zip Code Analysis Report
Service Office Detail and Service Office Summary: (Reports > Financial)
These reports now reconcile unapplied payments with the Transaction Summary report. Unapplied payments appear as a separate line item, enabling users to correctly reconcile two different financial reports without improperly assigned payment information.
Unapplied Payment/Adjustment: (Reports > Financial)
Updated labels correctly indicate Posting Office rather than Patient Office.
Implant Tracking Report: (Reports > Patient > Implant Tracking)
The report criteria has been enhanced to a "contains" type search. For example, if you enter "A1" in the Lot Number field, the results include all implants with "A1" anywhere in the Lot number.
New and updated Referral reports: (Reports > Enterprise) (Reports > Referral)
Referral Procedure Mix and Referral Dollar Count by Referral Category enable you to ascertain how each referral contributes to your patient count, what kinds of procedures are performed for those patients, and how those patients pay for their services. The count refers to the revenue generated, both gross revenue charged to patients for their services, as well as the net revenue of payments after adjustments, discounts, and so forth. These reports enable a practice to rank their referral sources and determine which source is providing patients in need of profitable services who also pay for treatment.
For Enterprise users: (Reports > Enterprise)
In addition to the Referral Procedure Mix report, an Enterprise Data Export option has been added, enabling you to export all transactions for a date range and related charges, payments, distributions, and referral sources. Customers who have specific data analysis needs requiring a more detailed review of transaction data can access this report if they own the Enterprise software module.
New Layout settings enable each user to customize how information is displayed in the Practice Central window. Additional columns have been added, so that each user can define how to best use the space on the window.
For more information, see Setting Practice Central Defaults.
The EMR Summary displays a chronological list of all patient activity under Patient Chart. A tool tip can be displayed by hovering over the individual entries. The Patient Chart is printable.
Search functionality has been enhanced for adding a prescription to Medications in EMR. You can now type in a few letters from the medication description to see a list of drugs that match the criteria. The string can appear at any point in the medication name. For example, entering “pro” into the Description field returns both “Cipro” and “Naproxen,” as well as any other matching drug names that have been entered into Tables > Drug and Prescriptions > Prescriptions.
Dose and Frequency Fields have been added to Medications on the EMR Summary. The fields are free-form and will accept up to 25 characters.
For more information, see Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
For practices using Carestream Dental's Automated Statements, "No New Charges" has been changed to “No Activity” to indicate a customer has an outstanding balance but has not interacted with the office in the preceding statement cycle.
For more information, see WinOMS Automated Statements Service.
CDT 2021 codes are available in WinOMS v10.0.
For more information, see Managing CDT Codes.
ICD-10 codes for 2021 are incorporated into WinOMS v10.0.
Enhancements to the Anesthesia Records interface provide greater control over the details included in the record.
Reporting feature automatically removes fields intentionally left blank from the generated result, providing cleaner reports containing only relevant information.
Report printout now displays a record of the times drugs were administered relative to the start of the surgery.
Anesthesia Start/End times are now separate entry fields from the Surgery Start/End times. These fields can be enabled or disabled as needed from the record and report. (Tables > Practice > Charting Preferences > Anesthesia Record > Customize > Surgery Info)
IV details are now included in the report.
IV Size (Gauge) field added for infused drugs. (Tables > Practice > Charting Preferences > Anesthesia Record > Customize > Surgery Info)
For more information, see Anesthesia Records.
