Working with Clinical Notes > Handling Patient Clinical Notes
To add a patient clinical note while charting:
Select a procedure and tooth, and do one of the following:
Click the Notes tab.
Select Clinical Notes > View Clinical Notes.
Click Add a descriptive note on the main toolbar.
The Patient Clinical Notes List window is displayed.
Press Enter and click Add. The Patient Clinical Notes window is displayed.
Type a brief description of the note's contents in the Re field. The text entered in this field is displayed in all clinical notes list windows.
Complete the following information:
Select the procedure code to which the note refers from the ADA Code drop-down list. You can select only a production or explosion code from the list.
Select the condition from the drop-down list.
Type the tooth and surface information in the fields, or click the drop-down arrows to select the information.
Select the type of watch from the drop-down list.
Select the provider from the list. The provider does not affect the chart.
Select Reviewed by Dr. to indicate the doctor has seen this note.
Type text in the Note field.
If you have the proper security permissions, you can edit this note after it is saved until the end of the day. After that time period, you can only amend the note.
To use this note as a default when posting the procedure, check Use this text as the default for this ADA Code.
Click OK. The current date is added at the end of the note. If no generic note is associated with the procedure code for the provider, a message is displayed, asking if you want to make a generic clinical note for this doctor or for all doctors.
If you selected Use this text as the default for this ADA Code, a message is displayed, asking if you want to create the default note for this doctor or for all doctors.
Select an option and click Yes.
Click Close twice.
