Recovering a Password Without Exiting SoftDent

You can run the Display Encoded Passwords utility without having all staff members log out of SoftDent. This utility produces a list of encrypted numbers that you read to a SoftDent support technician, who will identify the staff member's password.

You can run the utility from the SoftDent Login window from the following locations:

• At SoftDent startup

• At Change Login

• At HIPAA Automatic Logoff

To run the Display Encoded Passwords utility without having all staff members log out of SoftDent:

1. In the SoftDent Login window, type DECODE in the Name and Password fields.

2. Click OK. The Decode Passwords window is displayed.

3. The Password column displays a series of numbers that represent the encrypted password. Contact SoftDent Technical Support, and read the numbers to the support representative.

4. The User ID 1 (DOCTOR/DOCTOR12) password information is displayed in blue text.
