Using the Sales Tax CDT Code

Starting with the 2014 CDT code set, you can use a sales tax CDT code: D9985.

If you have the Service Tax feature enabled, the system inserts D9985 as a system code for the Service Tax feature beginning with the 7.6 update.

When the code is used, PracticeWorks automatically calculates the sales tax percentage based on the existing settings of the Service Tax feature.

Code D9985 is used in the following ways:

Post automatically-calculated tax onto a patient ledger.
Include as a line item on insurance claims if tax was posted to the ledger, when allowed by insurance company settings.
