Setting Recall Defaults

When you add a new patient to PracticeWorks, the system uses your office-wide recall default settings to determine the patient’s recall status. After the patient has been seen in the office, you can change the recall settings for that patient, based on individual needs.

The recall settings define the following information:

To set the recall defaults:

  1. Select File > Preferences > Recall defaults. The Office Wide Recall Defaults window is displayed.

  2. Check On recall if you want most of your patients to come in for regular cleanings.

  3. Enter a number in the Cycle (months) field to determine how frequently to recall patients for regular visits. The default is 6.

  4. Use the drop-down list to select the main recall producer.

  5. Enter the numbers of non-producer and producer time blocks for the appointment. The sum of these time blocks determines the amount of time that should be scheduled for the appointment. See Setting Up Appointment Books.

  6. Enter a number in the Family Recall Reminder field to display a reminder that the patient, or a family member, is due for a recall appointment. The number is the number of days from the current date that the system searches for a recall date.

  7. Click OK.
