Payment Plans for the ePayments Service

PracticeWorks links payment plans to the electronic credit card service. A button has been added to the Payment Plan Setup window that enables you to set up a plan using the customer’s credit card consent.

To create a payment plan for a patient using the credit card consent:

  1. From the patient’s ledger, click Add Entry. The Post New Entries to account window is displayed.

  2. The Producer entered for this transaction must be the AR/Administrator for this account.

  1. In the Description column, type payplan, and tab to the next field. The Payment Plan Setup Window is displayed.

  2. In the top section of the window, enter the plan balance, payment due date, number of installments, and payment frequency.

  1. Click Re-calc installments. The payment amounts are displayed in the bottom of the window. The Unallocated amount is updated with to display the difference between the current plan balance and the sum of the payment amounts.

  2. Click Pay with Credit Card. You are prompted to enter the information through the electronic credit card service windows.

  3. Process the credit card information as you would for a single transaction.

After the consent is obtained, the Pay with Credit Card button is replaced with the Remove card consent button, to be used if the consent needs to be removed from the plan. You can also select the Print receipt when credit card payments are authorized (auto-payments) option.

The Credit Card Use Consent form provides an overview of the terms of the credit card agreement. PracticeWorks prints two copies for the patient to sign. Provide one copy to the patient and keep the other copy in the patient's chart.
