Charting the Patient > Using the Capture Tab
TWAIN refers to a programming standard for acquiring images from devices such as scanners, digital still cameras, and so forth.
To acquire images from TWAIN-compatible devices:
On the Capture tab, click External application. A window is displayed, giving you these choices:
If you have more than one TWAIN device installed, a list is displayed.
Select a device from the available options.
PracticeWorks has an Automation Expert Response called Acquire image via TWAIN that enables you to access your TWAIN devices from many places within the system. Any Automation Expert Event can trigger a TWAIN acquisition. See Using the Automation Expert for more information.
Repeat the above steps as needed. The most recently captured image appears in the upper-left thumbnail frame in the image list. To view all images, scroll down.
When you have captured your last image, press E. You are transferred to the Attached Images tab so you can attach some or all of the images to the patient’s chart.
You can exit and return to the Capture tab at any time to add more images. Images that were saved as thumbnails are retained.
To verify captured images, double-click an image.
If you are using an AVI capture device, the buttons for Video, Source, and Display are active on the Capture tab. These buttons enable you to modify AVI capture device settings.
