You must complete the server installation before you can install OrthoTrac on a workstation.
Register the software on the OrthoTrac server before installing the software on a workstation.
We recommend installing OrthoTrac across the network for each workstation to automatically set locations in the OMS.ini file.
To install OrthoTrac for the first time on a workstation running a supported Windows operating system:
Verify that the server is running and start the workstation.
If you use a terminal server configuration and you are installing OrthoTrac on the terminal server, follow the steps described in this section to install the software on the terminal server console. The software cannot be installed from within a client session.
Map a drive from the workstation to the drive on the server on which the OrthoTrac files are stored. Select U as the drive letter for the connection. See the documentation and online Help provided with your Windows operating system for more information on mapping a network drive. Do not map the U drive directly to the OMS folder: doing so prevents the workstation from updating correctly. If your configuration uses a drive other than U, then you must modify the OMS.ini file in C:\Windows to match your drive letter. By default, the workstation installation of OrthoTrac creates an OMS.ini file that uses U as the drive designation.
The OrthoTrac Support Center expects the mapped drive to be U. Using a different drive letter can increase the amount of time spent troubleshooting issues. Additionally, the DataPath=… line in the [Awps] section of the OMS.ini file must point to the local installation of OrthoTrac, such as DataPath=C:\OMS.
Browse to U:\OMS-SPEC\Workstation Setup. The Workstation Setup window is displayed.
Double-click WSetup.exe. The Welcome window is displayed.
Verify that the workstation meets the minimum system requirements and click Next. The Choose Destination Location window is displayed.
Confirm that the OrthoTrac data path is accurate (the default is C:\OMS) before proceeding.
The destination folder for OrthoTrac data can vary depending upon your hardware and network configuration.
CAUTION: Ensure that no important data exists in this folder before proceeding. Click OK to return to the installation wizard.
If the C:\OMS folder already exists on this computer, a message is displayed, warning that continuing with the installation will delete this folder and all its contents. This window is not displayed during installation on the terminal server.
Click Next. The Start Installation window is displayed.
Click Next. The Install window is displayed.
Click OK to restart the computer.
Install OrthoTrac on all workstations before accessing the software.
Repeat the above steps to configure and install OrthoTrac on each computer in your network.
