Configuring OrthoTrac > Setting Up the Schedule
Standards are templates for your schedule. Using standards, you can set up your daily schedule to perform specific procedures at the times you want to perform them. You can set up schedules for different offices, different days of the week, holidays, and so on. If you use the Schedule Search feature, you must use standards so that you have reserved time to search for when making appointments.
The most commonly used schedule standard style is the Pre-Block format. With this format, you always schedule certain appointment types at pre-selected times, which enables you to reserve time for long appointments at specific times each day or on certain days. It is still possible to schedule a different type of appointment at a particular time, even if it is reserved for another appointment type.
Another type of standard is the Open Time format, also referred to as “color blocking.”
With this format, no appointment types are put on the schedule. Instead, all available time slots are left open. They can be differentiated by color to set aside times and chairs for specific appointment types. Open Time and Freestyle searches can be used with the Open Time standard.
In addition, you can:
Change a standard by increasing available time and adding chairs
Copy a standard
Apply a different standard over an existing standard
