Working with Templates

A template is a drawing that represents an anatomic structure. You enter one or more landmarks, and the template is drawn based upon those landmarks. You can edit a template to exactly match the structure, such as the lower molar, upper incisor, and mandible, if necessary.

•  For measurement purposes, it is not necessary to be anatomically accurate with the templates since only landmarks are used for calculations.

You can add the following object types:

• Landmark (2D):A single landmark.

• Absolute Template:A template drawn directly on the x-rays without regard to landmarks.

• Template (2D) (1 Landmark):A template that positions itself to a landmark, but does not rotate or scale. Orbitale is an example of this type of template.

• Template (2D) (2 Landmarks):A template that depends on two landmarks for its position, size, and orientation. Incisors are examples of this type.

• Curve (2D) (Through n landmarks):An object in which a smooth curve is passed through numerous landmarks, such as the mandible.
