You can temporarily dock and restore patient records while performing other tasks or working with another patient record. The Docked Patients window provides one-click access to common actions for each docked patient, and can restore a patient record to its previous state. This enables you to have several patient records open at the same time.
Use the buttons to access a specific function for the docked patient without having to return to the patient window. You can also route the patient to another user's dock.
Use the Patient Workspace Preferences window to define the action buttons for docked patients.
Click
on the Patient Workspace window to dock the patient record while keeping
it active.
Click Docked Patients to display a list of docked patients.
To restore a docked patient, click the patient's name.
Click the Refresh button
to refresh the list of docked patients in your Docked Patients window.
Patient records remain
on the Docked Patients window until they are removed by restoring
and then closing the record, or by selecting .
You can send a docked patient to another user’s dock. For example, the front office administrator might send the patient from her dock to the back office user who verifies insurance, or to the doctor to process a post-surgery prescription request.
To send a docked patient to another user’s dock:
From the Patient Workspace window,
click . The patient's name
is displayed in the Docked Patients window.
From the Docked Patient window,
click . The Dock Patient
with Note window is displayed.
Use the drop-down list to select the user to whom you are sending this record.
Use the note field to enter instructions or a description of the required action.
Click Ok.
When you receive a patient record and note from another user
in your Docked Patients window, the patient is shaded dark gray until
you open the workspace window for the patient. The note icon
is displayed with a box around it until you click the note icon to
view the note.
You can receive automatic notifications when another user has sent a patient to your Docked Patients window. When enabled, the Patient Dock Notifier Service becomes active in your system tray, and displays a message when there is a new patient in your dock.
You can double-click the icon in your system tray to display the
Patient Dock Notifier window. From here, you can view details, stop the
service, or minimize the window.
Before you can use this service, you must enable it from the Patient Dock tab of the Patient Workspace Preferences window and restart your computer. When you enable the service, you will also select the time increments for which you want notifications to be refreshed.
