Creating an NEA FastAttach Software Attachment for a Claim

You can create an NEA attachment for an electronic claim from the Electronic Claims Insurance Queue window, or from the patient’s Insurance Claims for window.

The Create/Edit NEA Attachment window displays the images associated with the patient's record based on the View image as... setting in Workspace Preferences. When set to view images as thumbnails, the window displays separate thumbnail lists for Available Images and Attached Images. When set to view images as text, only one list is displayed.

To create an attachment for a claim:

Select the claim in the queue or claims list, right-click, and select Create/Edit Claim Attachment. The Create NEA Attachment for Claim window is displayed with the claim number, center address, the procedure codes that require an attachment, and the type of attachments required.
Under Attachment Details, enter narrative comments to include with the attachments.
Use the Payer Reference # field when the insurance company requires additional information for a claim, and assigns this number to be included when the claim and attachment are resubmitted. This field is only enabled when the claim has been sent.
Use the Available Images section to select images to attach.

You can also double-click an image to move it to the Attached Images section, and double-click an image in the Attached Images section to open it in the NEA FastAttach Image Preview window.

To attach an image not already associated with the patient’s record:To attach an image not already associated with the patient’s record: click Add New. The New Image Information window is displayed. Select the source and enter information for the image file, and click OK. The image is attached to the patient’s record and added to the Attached Images section.

For each selected image, use the drop-down lists to select the Type, such as X-Ray or EOB, and Orientation of the image. When X-Ray is selected, the date selection field is enabled; enter the date the image was acquired.

You can select an attached image and click Delete to delete it from the claim, or Preview to view and verify the image.

Click Save to save the attachment to batch and send later, or Send to submit the attachment to the NEA FastAttach service.
