Managing CDT Codes

The American Dental Association periodically publishes updates to the Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature (CDT). The WinOMS software manages the implementation of the code changes using the following features:

• AddsThis feature includes new procedure codes and descriptions that did not exist in earlier versions of the CDT code set.

• ChangesThis feature includes changes to the descriptions, which are also referred to as nomenclature changes. The corresponding alphanumeric codes have not changed.

• DeletesThis feature includes codes that are obsolete.

• Performing the CDT Code update requires security level permission for this feature. You must accept the End-User License Agreement (EULA) before processing the CDT code update.

To grant permission to update the CDT Code set:

1. Select Utilities > Security. The Set Security Level Permissions window is displayed.

2. Under All Items, click Procedures & Payments > Procedures. The CDT Code Update feature is displayed on the right.

3. Select the checkbox for each user level that has permission to update the CDT Code set.

4. Click Ok.
