Lexicomp Data Integration

The WinOMS software enables you to access and integrate drug information and clinical content into your system's drug and prescription related functions. WinOMS interfaces with the Lexicomp Inc. Online for Dentistry service, that provides drug monographs, interactions, and dental alerts.

• You must create an account with Lexicomp in order to use the functionality within WinOMS. You will also be prompted for an activation code.

Use the Lexicomp Drug Matching utility to match and cross reference the official drug list from Lexicomp to the list of drugs in your WinOMS software. Lexicomp data is updated regularly from pharmaceutical and FDA announcements regarding drug dosing, interactions, and other critical information.

The Lexicomp Drug ID number is stored with the drug information in WinOMS, and enables you to retrieve information about the drug using the Drug Interaction and Drug Monograph buttons on the related windows.

The Lexicomp integration occurs in these locations in WinOMS:

• File > Lexicomp Homepage  Access the Lexicomp home page.

• Drug Matching utility  Match medications in your system with Lexicomp Drug ID numbers used to retrieve information.

• Patient EMR feature  Access information about patient prescriptions and drug interactions between prescriptions.

• Medications Search window  Lexicomp Drug ID number can be used to search for a medication.

• Add Medication and Edit Medication windows  View, add, or edit the Lexicomp Drug ID number assigned to a medication.

• Prescriptions Search window  Lexicomp Drug ID number can be used to search for a prescription.

• Prescription Code Data Entry window  View, add, or edit the Lexicomp Drug ID number assigned to a prescription.

• Point-of-Care module  Use Interaction button to check for drug interactions related to patient prescriptions.

Once the Lexicomp integration is established and Drug ID numbers are matched, you can access information in these ways:

• From the Patient Workspace, right-click the top portion of the window and select Lexicomp, and one of the three options: Drug Interaction, Homepage, Patient Education.

• From the Patient Workspace EMR overview tab, click on an item in the Medications list.

• From the Rx tab of the Patient Workspace, select an item from the list and click Drug Monograph.

• From the Point-of-Care module, click Interaction.

• Select File > Lexicomp Homepage.
