Configuring the Software

8. Vital signs monitors must be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. The purpose of the anesthesia records module is to create a record of the monitor’s readings. It is not to be used as a monitoring device.

To configure the monitor settings in the software:

1. Select Utilities > My Computer Settings. The My Computer Settings window is displayed.

2. Click the Vitals Monitor tab.

3. Under Monitor Configuration, use the drop-down list to select the monitor type.

4. Select the COM Port through which the monitor is connected to the computer. The fields below it become active.

5. Refer to your System Requirements documentation to ensure proper configuration.

5. Use the drop-down lists to set the following:

• Recording IntervalNumber of seconds or minutes at which the software records a vital signs reading, such as one reading every 20 seconds, or one reading per minute.

• Plotting IntervalNumber of seconds or minutes at which the software plots a vital signs reading on the graph. It can be the same as, or different from, the recording interval.

6. Under ECG Graphing Preferences, use the drop-down list to select the ECG Cable you are using. The fields below become active.

7. Use the drop-down lists to set the following fields for the ECG graph:

• Snapshot Size

• Printer Speed

• Waveform

• Gain

8. Click Ok.
