Running the Find/Repair Corrupt Utility

Run this utility to locate, repair, and reindex corrupted data records. Run the Find Largest ID utility before repairing corrupt records.

• Do not run this utility unless you are instructed to by a technical support representative.

To find and repair corrupt files:

1. Instruct all users to exit the software.

2. Select Start > All Programs > SoftDent Software > SoftDent Utilities. The SoftDent Login window is displayed.

3. Type your user name and password and click OK. The SoftDent Utilities window is displayed.

4. Select File > Find/Repair Corrupt. The Find/Repair Corrupt Records window is displayed.

6. To find and correct a specific corrupted file:Select it from the list.

7. To run the corruption utility for all files:Click Select All.

6. Click OK. A message asks you to run the utility.

7. Click Yes. A message asks you to pause between files.

8. Select an option:

9. To pause between files:Click Yes. After each file is checked, a window that details the number of records, number of corrupt records, the number of corrected records, and the number of deleted files is displayed. Click OK to check the next file.

10. To run the utility without pausing between files:Click No. The files are checked, and corrupt files are corrected.

A message informs you that the utility is finished. Information on corrupt data found by this utility is stored in the SDUTILS.LOG file.

9. Click OK.

10. Click Close.

11. When the technical support representative tells you to, restart the software.
