Running the Practice Barometers Report

The Practice Barometers report compares critical statistics for your practice for two time periods.

The report displays the:

The goal attained equals the production amount divided by the goals for the period. If you did not establish goals for the first period, no percentage change is calculated.

To run the Practice Barometers report:

  1. Select Reports > Practice Management > Practice Barometers. The Output Options window is displayed.

  2. Select an output and click OK. The Practice Barometer Report window is displayed.

  3. In the Range One section, click the drop-down arrows in the Start Date and End Date fields to select the dates from a calendar.

  4. In the Range Two section, click the drop-down arrows in the Start Date and End Date fields to select the dates from a calendar.

  5. In the Providers section, click the drop-down arrows to select the providers from a list, or leave 999 to report on all providers.

  6. Click OK.

If the software is missing a number for one of the periods (for example, you set a goal for the first period but not the second), asterisks are displayed in the Change column.

The report contains the following sections:

  • Active Patients—Patients with production (codes 100+) posted in the last two years.

  • Inactive Patients—Patients with no production posted in the last two years.

  • Patients Seen—Patients with production posted within the specified date range. If you run this report for a single provider, the software uses the service, not the billing, provider.

  • New Patients Seen—Patients with production posted and first visit date within the specified date range. If you run this report for a single provider, the software uses the service, not the billing, provider.

  • New Patients Percentage—Percentage of patients seen who are new patients.

Production Numbers:Production Numbers:

  • Actual Production—Dollar amount of production for service provider.

  • Missed Appt Prod.—Dollar amount of production not posted due to missed appointments. This number is updated when you run the Missed Appointments Report.

  • Production Goal/Production Goal Attained—Dollar amount of production goal. Goal information initially is set up using the Month At A Glance window in Goal mode.

    The Production Goal Attained field gives the dollar amount of production posted and equals the production amount divided by the goals for the period.

  • Estimated Hours Worked—Time units for all transactions posted during the indicated time period. This number may be higher than expected because explosion codes are counted as individual procedures.

  • Production/Est Hours—Production for service provider divided by Estimated Hrs Worked.

  • Production/Patients Seen—Production for the service provider divided by Patients Seen.

  • Net Production$—Production +/- adjustments to production.

  • Collections—Collections +/- adjustments to collections.

  • Collection/Production Ratio—Collections divided by Net Production$. This ratio compares dollars collected to dollars produced for the specified date range.

  • Plan Collections—Dollar amount posted to insurance plan transactions.

  • Change in Receivables—The receivables balance for the start date minus the receivables balance for the end date.
