Getting Started > Entering Data
The following list of data entry tips can help you properly enter data:
Dates:Use the mm/dd/yyyy format for date fields. A warning is displayed if you enter an invalid date.
Type T in any date field to insert the current system date automatically.
Notes:After you type enough data to fill the field, an additional row is automatically added to contain your data. Use the arrow keys to scroll up or down and view the entire text entry. The beginning of your note is displayed at the top of the field every time the window is opened.
The following multi-line Notes fields are found in the software: Patient personal notes, Plan notes, Prescription drug instructions/additional text, Lab notes, Lab descriptions, Pharmacy notes, and Memo notes.
Phone and Fax Numbers:If you press Tab to select a Phone or Fax field, the cursor is displayed at the beginning of the seven-digit number. To enter a 1 and the area code, press Backspace until the cursor is displayed at the beginning of the field, or use the mouse to click the space to the left of the parenthesis. A phone extension number can contain up to four characters.
Times:To enter an on-the-hour time, such as 8:00 a.m., type 8a and press Tab. If an office is not open at 8:00 p.m., type 8 and the time defaults to 8:00 a.m.
Codes:Certain codes are only recognized when they are entered in an unbroken sequence. For example, the user codes F6, M, and X should be entered into the User Codes field in the Account window as F6MX. Likewise, type provider assignment codes in the Scheduler Template field without commas or spaces (for example, HHBB) in the Scheduler/Fees tab of the ADA/Transaction Codes window.
States:Ensure that you enter the correct two characters for each state.
Zip Codes:Zip code fields contain nine spaces with a hyphen after the first five. Enter the nine-digit code if available.
