Once Line Item accounting is activated and the Ledger Setup is complete, all past credits are available to distribute. This includes payments from patients and insurance companies, as well as adjustments.
Use the Line Item Accounting Transition utility to distribute existing credits.
Before running the Transition utility, you must receive an authorization code from a Carestream Dental Support Representative.
Before running the Transition utility, all users must be out of PracticeWorks for approximately 30 minutes.
To run the utility:
Select Start > All Programs > CS PracticeWorks > Utilities. The CS PracticeWorks Utilities window is displayed.
Click Patches. The Patch Master window is displayed.
Select BFA to LIA Transition Utility, and click Run selected patch. The Line Item Accounting Transition Window is displayed.
The Transition Date is determined after the transition method is chosen. This is the date at which credits recorded in the software are distributed to debits using Balance Forward (or First In, First Out) accounting. Current or future dates are not permissible.
Select one of the following:
I use the Cross Settlement report for payroll, and run it by Service date or Entry date. This distributes to procedures regardless of claim status, and is necessary to mimic how cross settlement functions.
If you are not sure whether you use Service date or Entry date, refer to a printed copy of your last cross settlement report. The method used is listed at the top of the report.
Do not transition from cross settlement to line item until you have run the cross settlement for the last payroll time frame.
I do not use the Cross Settlement report for payroll. This does not distribute to procedures with a claim status of Waiting or Submitted. When this option is selected, enter a number of days in the Distribute to claims older than __ days field.
Click Run. The Utility displays the transition progress in the Completed and Remaining fields.
