To configure the transmission settings for PracticeWorks eClaims processing:
From the Windows Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel. Click phone and modem options and verify the Com port for your modem. Typically, the modem is located on Com1, Com2, Com3, or Com4.
From the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > CS PracticeWorks > Configuration of CS PracticeWorks. The configuration utility is displayed.
From the Setup menu, select PracticeWorks E-Services Modem/Account Settings.
In the Modem field, use the drop-down list to select the modem you verified in Step 1.
In the Provider TIN field, enter your practice’s Tax ID number.
In the Account No. field, enter your PracticeWorks electronic claim processing account number.
The phone number defaults to a toll-free access number for the electronic services network. If a 9 or other digit is required for outside line access, enter it with a comma in front of the phone number. For example: 9,1-800-000-0000.
Click OK.
To enable file transfer from the EDI Utility - Modem Settings window, click the Web Enabled button and click OK. The EDI Utility - Web Enabled File Transfer Settings window is displayed.
You must have an open Internet connection to use Web-enabled file transfer (WEFT). If a dial-up Internet connection is used, the connection must be established before attempting to use Internet File Transfer.
The following elements are required:
Internet Service Provider
Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher with 128-bit encryption.
Cookies must be enabled and Internet Security set no higher than Medium.
To ensure that your dial-up or Internet connection is working properly with the PracticeWorks eClaims processing clearinghouse:
From the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > CS PracticeWorks > E-Claim Processing Service. A prompt is displayed.
Click Yes. A list of electronically-capable insurance companies is downloaded into the PracticeWorks software.
