Calling In Prescriptions

The patient’s preferred pharmacy information is accessible from the Phone Inquiry window and the Clipboard, enabling you to call in a prescription for a patient on the telephone. The call-in options are also available from the charting module. See Integrated Prescription Writer for more information.

To call in a prescription:

  1. From the Phone Inquiry window or the Clipboard, click Prescriptions. The Prescription Drug History window for the patient is displayed, listing the patient’s previous prescriptions from your office.

  2. Click Prescribe Drug. The Prescription Drug List window is displayed.

  3. Select the drug to prescribe, or click Add. The Prescribe Drug window is displayed.

  4. Complete the information as you would for a printed prescription, and click OK. The Prescription Options window is displayed.

  5. Select Call Preferred Pharmacy, and click OK. The Call Pharmacy window is displayed.

  6. If your office utilizes the auto dial feature, click Auto dial.

    Otherwise, use the information on the window to place the call, and then click Close.

    The Prescription information and date prescribed are added to the patient’s Prescription Drug History window.
