Configuring PEARL Module Security

To enhance security, Carestream Dental recommends selecting the following options when configuring your handheld device.

Require Device User Authentication

Before accessing your handheld device with the PEARL Module application, you must enable identification. Carestream Dental recommends setting up a passcode, facial ID, or other authentication method appropriate for your device and operating system version to prevent unauthorized access to the PEARL Module.

Require Auto-Lock

To ensure information security, configure your device to lock automatically (Auto-Lock) after a specified period. Carestream Dental recommends automatic lock after no longer than one or two minutes.

Configuring "When Application Is Closed" Settings

You can configure the PEARL Module application so that user credentials do not need to be entered after each time the application is closed. However, this setting is time-limited; you cannot set the application so that the credentials are retained indefinitely. Use the Stay connected and Max duration of login options to adjust the configuration.

Set the following options to control when the PEARL Module closes:

Stay connected OFF (recommended)
When Stay connected is toggled off, the user must enter login credentials each time the application is closed.

When Stay connected is toggled on, the user is not asked to enter login credentials after the application closes until the value specified in the Max duration of login field has expired.
- Carestream Dental recommends selecting the Off position for the Stay Connected toggle to reduce the risk of unauthorized access to your practice information.
Max duration of login

When the Max duration of login is set, the PEARL Module requires the user to enter login credentials after the time period specified in this field has elapsed. This requirement is active even when Stay Connected is enabled. Carestream Dental recommends setting the login duration to no more than 10 minutes.

Sign Out When Not in Use

Carestream Dental recommends signing out of the PEARL Module application any time you are not actively using it. To sign out, tap Sign out at the top of the PEARL Module application.
