You can integrate OrthoTrac with a TAPI-compliant phone system.
When this integration is active, if a phone number is associated with more than one patient or responsible party, a list is displayed. You can then select a contact. Select a patient to view the patient information window.
Smart Call information is displayed in the following areas:

When the Smart Call integration is active, an icon is displayed in the Microsoft Windows system tray. Right-click the icon to select Configure or Exit.

To configure the Smart Call integration:
Right-click the Smart Call icon in the Microsoft Windows system tray. The configuration window is displayed.
Select the appropriate options for your Smart Call system from the following fields:
Click OK.

When the Smart Call integration is active, the incoming call window displays the following information:
Telephone number
Originating party
Name
Responsible parties
Last appointment
Next appointment
Doctor
Location
Status
The incoming call is color-coded by type.
Select one of the following options:
To respond to the call, click Answer. OrthoTrac can identify the following caller types:
Patient
Responsible party
Staff
Outside Doctor
Carrier
If the call originates from an unknown number, click Assign to associate the number with one of the following options:
New Patient
Existing Patient
Responsible Party
Outside Doctor
Staff Member
To view a list of contacts, click Lookup. The OrthoTrac Patient Lookup window is displayed.
To close the incoming call window, click Ignore.
If you do not interact with the incoming call window, the window closes automatically when the phone call is terminated.
To configure OrthoTrac to automatically start Smart Call when a staff member logs in:
From the main menu, click Options > Environment. The OrthoTrac Configuration window is displayed.
Click the Miscellaneous tab.
Select one of the following options to start Smart Call with OrthoTrac:
Always
Never
Prompt
Click OK.
