Understanding Standard Board Superimpositions
The three Standard Board superimpositions are used to describe facial changes in the:

Craniofacial
-
Mandibular
-
Maxillary
Original or pre-treatment tracings are displayed in black, interim tracings are displayed in blue, and post treatment tracings are displayed in red.
The standard American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) Analyses are as follows:

SNASNA Measures the angle between Sella, Nasion, and A Point.

SNBSNB Measures the angel between Sella, Nasion, and B Point.
-
ANBANB Measures the difference between SNA and SNB.
-
SN-MPSN-MP Measures the angle between Sella-Nasion line and the Mandibular plane.
-
FMAFMA Measures the angle between the Constructed Gonion-Constructed Gnathion line and the Frankfort Horizontal line.

1 to SN1 to SN Measures the angle between the Sella-Nasion line and the upper incisor.
-
1 to MP1 to MP Measures the angle between the mandibular plane and the lower incisor.

1 to NA1 to NA Measures the horizontal distance from the upper incisor tip to the Nasion-A Point line.

1 to NB1 to NB Measures the horizontal distance from the Lower Incisor Tip to the N-B Point line.

E-PlaneE-Plane Measures the shortest distance from the E Plane to the lower tip.

OverjetOverjet Measures the horizontal distance between the Upper and Lower Incisor Tips. There is no drawing associated with this measurement.

OverbiteOverbite Measures the vertical distance between the Lower and Upper Incisor Tips. There is no drawing associated with this measurement.
