Managing Patients > Adding Visits > Importing and Exporting Visits
When importing a patient record, you can import digital records previously exported using the current or previous version of the software. If you are transferring a new patient to your practice, you can import the entire contents of the patient’s record into the patient’s image chart.
To import a patient record:
Open or create the patient’s image chart.
Right-click on the patient’s name in the Table of Contents and select Import Patient. The Browse For Folder window is displayed.
Locate the appropriate patient record and click the patient folder. The database tries to reconcile the type of visit you are importing.
If the visit type does not exist in the database, the Importing window is displayed, identifying the type of visit you are trying to import; for example, New Visit.
If the database recognizes the visit type but not the object type, the Importing Final Records window is displayed.
If the visit was not recognized, both the Visit and Image Type options are enabled. If the objects were not recognized, only the Image Type option is enabled.
If necessary, select Visit or Image Type at the top of the Importing window.
For each visit or image type in the Imported Data list, assign it to a type in the Types in Database list.
To add an image or visit type in the Imported data list to the database, select that item, and click Add Type.
To view a preview of the object you are importing, select Show Preview.
After you have assigned all image types, click OK. A message is displayed indicating that the software is importing the visit and the assigned objects.
The visit is imported into the patient’s chart, and the Table of Contents is updated to reflect the imported visits.
