Calibrate Tool

Use the Calibrate tool to establish the distance between two points in an image, ensuring accurate ruler measurements.

Calibration distance and calibration units:Calibration distance and calibration units are set up in the Annotations tab in your preferences.

If all images created in your practice are marked with a standard length marker, such as a scale, enter the measurement of that area in the Calibration Distance field on the Annotations tab.

Each time you calibrate an image, the area you select with the calibrate tool equals the measurement you entered in the Calibration Distance field.

If the images created in your practice are not marked with a standard length marker:Select the Ask checkbox next to the Calibration Distance field. Each time you calibrate an image, a dialog box is displayed, asking you to enter the measurement of the area you selected.

• You can specify the measurement units and the calibration precision. For more information, see Setting Annotations Preferences.
  

• Drawing and measurements made in the software are done under the responsibility of the user.

To calibrate an image:

1. Click .

2. Select an area of known distance in the image, and click the beginning point of the area you are measuring.

3. Click the end point of the area you are measuring. If you did not select Ask on the Annotations tab in your preferences, the measured area equals the distance you entered in the Calibration Settings field. The calibration is complete.

If you selected the Ask option:The Enter Value window is displayed.

Enter the distance of the area you measured and click OK. The measured area equals the distance you entered in the Enter Value window, and the calibration is complete.
