Point-of-Care Progress Note Window

Progress Note Button

The Progress Note window in the point-of-care module enables you to write immediate notes about a patient, which can be viewed later in the software. This window displays a digital ink interface, enabling you to write directly on the screen using the tablet PC pen.

The Progress Note window consists of the following areas:

Toolbar
Patient Information section
New Note area
Note History area
Navigation bar

You should be familiar with the following capabilities and features on the Progress Note window:

New Note Button

To dispose of a note, tap the New Note button and start the note from the beginning.
You cannot delete a previously saved progress note. The note is only available for viewing and printing after it is saved.
Digital ink notes cannot be erased at any point during the creation of a new note. Either draw a line through the existing text if it is a mistake, or tap New Note and select No when prompted to save the original note.
You can use various pen types and colors when writing a note.
You can highlight a specific portion of a note, if necessary.
You can search note history to view previously documented information.

Click an icon to display its description:

Icon	Function
	New Note Produce a new note on the window.
	Save Note Save the note.
	Pens Change the type of pen you use to write notes.
	Highlighters Highlight an area within a note.
	Snap - Move Splitter to Top Snap the splitter bar to the top of the window and display a full view of the Note History section.
	Snap - Move Splitter to Bottom Snap the splitter bar to the bottom of the window to display a full view of the New Note area.
	Snap to Center Snap the splitter bar to the center of the window.
	Display Patient Information View the details about the patient prior to writing a progress note.
	Search Display the Search Results section.
	Print Generate a printed copy of the progress note.
	Page-up/Page-down Move through the pages of notes.
	Cancel Button Close a narrative without saving the progress note. You are prompted to save the note.
