Narratives Window

Use the Narratives window to create detailed narratives for a patient. The narratives available on this window are based on your customization of the software.

To create a narrative for a patient:

  1. In the Narrative List section, select the type of narrative you want for a patient. Use the scroll bar to find additional narratives.

  2. The Narrative Construction section differs depending on the narrative selected. Some narratives might have only two tabs, while other narratives can have more than 20.

  1. From the first tab in the Narrative Construction section, select the appropriate category. The selected item is displayed in the Selected Findings section.

  2. Click Next Page, and the window automatically goes to the next tab in the series for this narrative.

  3. Continue entering information into the tabs as needed. As you complete each tab, a check mark is displayed. You can return to a tab and change the information.

  4. When you have finished entering information through the tabs, you can click Process to open, edit, and save the narrative to the patient's record.

  1. Click Queue to add the narrative to the Optisoft queue.

  2. To create another narrative for the same patient, start the process again and enter information accordingly.

  3. The Additional Information tab in the Narratives window has been enhanced. When you write notes with the stylus, these notes are automatically converted to text. This works on a tablet PC only.

This narrative can be found in the Optical Ticket Queue window. The narrative merges into QuickEdit, where you can edit or print the narrative before saving it to the patient's record.
